Interactive Media Installation

Year of production: 2011

Processing, Arduino, Capacitive sensorsm LEDs, an acrylic hemisphazere, a web cam

This project is an installation about individual aura which is important  in oriental concept. I drew inspiration from Tae-Geuk which comes from the Korean national flag, and represent the meaning that the creation of this universe in oriental theory. I will create a small universe in the shape of Tae-Geuk using LEDs. When an individual walks into the installation booth, the LEDs will change according to an individual's spiritual energy. The project is about converting individual things into visual effects through interaction.

Princess Machine

Interactive Media Installation

Year of production: 2007

Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Isadora

This project is about consumerism. It was an interactive installation using Isadora. If a viewer comes into the booth which a PDP screen is installed in, the 30-second film about over consumes and superimposes the viewer’s image onto the film that I already made. By superimposing the copied viewer’s image, participants will get a sense of shopping saturation.

ForEx ATM

There are very few foreign exchange bureaus in New York City that are not capable of adequately serving multi-national students, residents or tourists in a global city. Banks charge very heavy service fees to exchange money and as a result, foreign exchange is conducted at very high rates, which is inconvenient for consumers. The bureaus are not available 24 hours, thereby reducing accessibility further.

The kiosk would allow users to pick the vendor of their choice. These vendors could be located anywhere in New York or even the USA and would be able to conduct foreign exchange trader with a remote user. The kiosk would be managed by a bigger Bank or corporation that would charge a commission from the vendors.

The motivation for vendors is to be able to expand their customer base and that for the user is to be able to find the cheapest vendor for their transaction. The kiosk can be used as an ATM or to debit transaction to a bank account instead of cash withdrawal.

Tourists and International students would benefit from an automated currency exchange kiosk that allows them:

1. to conduct foreign exchange at competitive rates

2. flexibility to choose from multiple vendors in one place

3. 24 hours accessibility

4. multilingual accessibility
